Video calls added to Telegram in test mode

The Telegram messenger has a video call function, while it is available in test mode. The changes in the messenger drew attention to the internet edition "Durov's Code".

To use the mode, you need to update the application to the latest version. After that, ten times click on the "gear" icon of the settings, and in the menu that opens, enable the Experimental Feature (Experimental functions). After that, video calls will be available, but only if the interlocutor also turns on the new function on his phone.

Apart from video calls, Telegram has introduced several updates. So, the application can put a video avatar instead of the usual static picture. The developers have improved the section "People nearby", adding the ability to find out at what distance from you the interlocutor is and allowed the owners of groups of 500 or more members to see detailed statistics. The volume of files that can be sent in the messenger has also been increased, from 1.5 GB to 2 GB.

In June, Roskomnadzor unblocked Telegram in Russia. The department explained that the restrictions were lifted, since the founder of the service, Pavel Durov, showed a willingness to counter-terrorism. The application was blocked by a decision of a Moscow court since April 2018, the FSB had complaints about the messenger because it did not provide the keys to decrypt user messages.
